Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

January 16, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join Tri Cycle Farms in celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on January 16th, 2017, from 12pm-4pm. We will complete a variety of projects at the farm, including projects like

  • An opening activity at 12pm to build cooperation and focus our intentions for this day of service
  • Building Victory Gardens near the main garden and in front of the Rock House
  • Mixing soil amendments to make potting soil, and then starting seeds in our potting soil mixture
  • Clearing and strawing any remaining unwinterized garden beds
  • Planting trees and shrubs

At 3:30pm, volunteers and community members are invited to hear the story of and share a community meal of "Stone Soup" at the Trinity United Methodist Church fellowship hall, which is right across the street from the farm. Ozark Natural Foods, Whole Foods, and Ozark Natural Breads are donating organic produce and other ingredients for Stone Soup that will be prepared by Mike's Mindful Plate. This meal is free and open to the public. Bring a container with you so you can take home some soup! Let's work together and then share in healthy, organic soups and breads together!

We will have indoor activities available in the event of rain. Check our Facebook page for an announcement by 9am on Monday morning regarding indoor or outdoor activities.

If you would like to make a group reservation for your organization, please email Delilah Clark, AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator, at azuredk@gmail.com. We would love to host your student organization at this event as well as on independently scheduled workdays!
